A dancing tour of the gardens of Sainte-Anne Hospital
The Museum of Art and History at Sainte-Anne Hospital is partnering with Alyson Bernard, a dancer, actress, clinical psychologist, dance-movement therapist, and drama therapist at Sainte-Anne Hospital, to combine dance, the art of the moving body, with an exploration of the hospital gardens.
In its usual form, a guided heritage tour allows little spontaneity or freedom of expression for participants. Led by Alyson Bernard and Margaux Blondel, cultural outreach coordinator and mediator at the Museum of Art and History at Sainte-Anne Hospital, this tour will, on the contrary, place the body at the heart of the visitor experience. We will thus offer a different way of understanding the history and the statuary and arboreal heritage of Sainte-Anne, through the gestures, postures, and expression of feelings inherent to the world of dance.
Inviting everyone to express themselves through movement, this dance-based tour is suitable for all ages, body types, and psychological makeup. It creates situations where everyone can freely express their feelings and creativity. By exploring the connection to the landscape and spaces, the interplay between stillness and movement, relationships to objects and clothing, and everyday gestures, this tour will allow participants to address broader questions, such as the impact of institutions on the body, the links between sport and the psyche, and the therapeutic potential of dance.
The tour will include historical and architectural stops, periods of observation, and dance-based dialogues with the park’s sculptures and the works created by patient-artists and housed at the MAHHSA.
This physical and sensory approach to the artworks and the site, a blend of understanding and sensation, aims to adapt, transform, and reinvest in what constitutes a group, in light of the values of Olympism and Paralympism, such as inspiration, respect, equality, and friendship.
These visits are part of the Formes Olympiques 2023 festival program, within the framework of the Cultural Olympiad, and are supported by the City of Paris.
