New exhibition “The Invention of a Writing System: Jeannot’s Floor” – Heritage Days
After approaching Jeannot’s Floor from an archaeological perspective, the MAHHSA (Museum of Art and History of Psychiatry) is dedicating a second exhibition to it, aiming to establish it as a work of art.
Guided by the exhibition’s curators, Dominique Viéville and Anne-Marie Dubois, this visit explores the resonance of Jeannot’s Floor with major works of contemporary art, ranging from Picasso to Dubuffet, Lucio Fontana, Niki de Saint Phalle, Ghada Amer, and Gordon Matta-Clark—nearly 40 artists in total.
The MAHHSA is the first hospital museum dedicated to art to have been awarded the “Musée de France” designation, in 2016. It studies all forms of connections between art and psychiatry.
Its mission is to preserve, restore, study, and enrich the collection, as well as to make it accessible to the widest possible audience.
